1. The UK Generated 43.9 Million Tonnes Of Commercial & Industrial Waste In 2018
It is estimated that the UK generated 43.9 million tonnes of commercial and industrial (C&I) waste in 2018, of which 37.2 million tonnes (85%) was generated in England. The latest estimates for England only, indicate that C&I waste generation was around 33.8 million tonnes in 2020.
2. Wales Has The Highest Recycling Rate In The UK
Wales has a 65.4% recycling rate, making it rank 4th in the world. They are in fact the only UK nation to of reached the 50% recycling target set by the European Union. Wales had increased from 65.1% in 2019/20 to 65.4% in 2020/21, a new record high.
3. In 2021 63.2% Of UK Packaging Waste Was Recycled

5. 2.5 Million Metric Tons Of Plastic Packaging Was Generated In 2021
In 2021, 2.5 million metric tons of plastic packaging was generated, with just 44.1 percent recycled. The packaging materials with the highest recycling rate in 2021 was steel.
