The Blue Light Get Active Challenge is a nationwide campaign to support emergency services across the UK. The challenge is raising funds for Police, Ambulance, and FireFighter services, while also promoting the importance of mental and physical health. Participants can track progress on the Get Active Challenges app. The Bailey’s Skip Hire team signed up, getting active to help raise funds for the fantastic Air Ambulance service.
Air Ambulance
Supporting the Air Ambulance service is essential. Their team of paramedics, pilots, and doctors are saving lives, rescuing individuals from hard to access areas every day. Their critical care cars help those in need receive emergency hospital attention any time, any day. Their service is unparalleled in its value, yet, they receive no government funding. That’s why fundraising campaigns, like the Blue Light Get Active Challenge, are an important way to raise awareness about the value of this organisation, and raise some well needed funds.
We have also been working with Air Ambulance in their clothing recycling scheme. With each skip that goes out, we attach a textile bag for collecting clothing. Customers can fill these bags with unwanted clothing, which we will then pass on to Air Ambulance who can sell the items in their shops.
Blue Light Challenge
After paying the sign up fee of £25, a few of the team have been working hard to raise money and get active. Angela has been getting active by running, and has completed over 77km for the Blue Light Challenge! Levi has been going for walks and runs with his kids, while being “chased by aliens.” Walking and running aren’t the only activities Blue Light are suggesting as ways to get active. Cycling, work out classes, yoga, and swimming are some other fun ways to raise funds.
They are also promoting meditation and mindfulness, to encourage participants to improve their mental health, as well as their physical.
The campaign runs from the 18th of January to the 14th of February, but there really is no time limit on fundraising! We will be continuing to raise money for Air Ambulance in as many ways as we can.
